Big brother General Lee, oldest of the original eleven, was born December 7, 1898. He and Eloise were married in 1923. General departed this life on April 4, 1974.
Uncle General worked for the U. S. Postal Service. He was a kind, generous and gentle spirited person. Although he left no descendants, General left two namesakes in the family:
Aunt Eloise was a prominent Birmingham educator. She was educated at the State Teacher's College (former name of Alabama State University). In addition to teaching Aunt Eloise served as the first principal of Englewood Elementary as well as principal of Bangor County School and East Lake Public.
Aunt Eloise retired after 46 years of teaching. Pictured is her and friend Ada Tolbert being honored during a retirement reception at the Wenonah High School auditorium on May 17, 1959. Eloise was a supportive wife who preceded General in death on April 17, 1970.
General was a member and deacon of 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. Pictured here is him standing in front of his car.
